Archaeologists say layers of sediment at the site indicate occupation dating back 5,000 years, but this is surely too large a figure since Noah’s Flood occurred 4500 years ago. They were made of mud bricks and are estimated to be over 3500 years old. The silos vary from 18 to 22 feet in diameter and were probably at least 25 feet tall.
The official announcement of the discovery of 7 grain silos at Tell Edfu was made by the secretary general of the Supreme Council for Antiquities in Egypt. Yet the reporter neglected to raise the obvious question which could reveal the discovery to be of far greater import. A recent article in The New York Times reports an intriguing archaeological find.
